Amanda Byrne – Studio Director
AIA nsw arb 7491 | APHA | IPHA | MA Cantab
BA (Hons) Arch | B.Arch (Hons) Distinction
Certified Passive House Designer 25+ years global experience in highend residential and sustainable design.
Originally from the UK, Amanda is the founder and studio director of Panda Studio Architecture. A Registered Architect in NSW and Certified Passive House Designer, she brings over 25 years of experience across the UK, Hong Kong and Australia. Amanda studied at the University of Cambridge and the Kent Institute of Art and Design, graduating with Distinction and receiving a nomination for the RIBA President’s Silver Medal in 2001.
Amanda’s work is underpinned by rigorous research, a love of strong conceptual design and meticulous attention to detail – from planning policy right down to the materials. A mother of two, her spare time is eclectic and energetic: think muay thai boxing, kundalini yoga and Bollywood dancing. Yes, she really is one kickass architect.
“Amanda cares about the end result, is a masterful designer and we are very grateful to have had her on our team!”
Born in the UK and half Malaysian Chinese, quarter English and a quarter Faroese - a heritage that blends Eastern and Western cultures, Amanda is the daughter of a precision engineer (a tribologist and ball bearing expert!) and a former nurse, who met on a fortuitous blind date back in the early ’70s. Their unlikely match shaped her outlook - equal parts technical and compassionate.
